teeny crawly things
A mass of small spherical green things set up shop on one of the straggly plants in my garden. Today, I noticed a lot of webbing and the spheres had turned into zillions of teeny things crawling around. Maybe it's baby spiders running off all Charlotte's-Web-like. What do you think?
In other gardening news: Last summer, I threw a bunch of nasturtium seed pods that the crazy nasturtium plant generated into the thicket of ivy patch by the driveway just to see. Two plants managed to fight their way through all the leaves into existence this spring, and this past weekend, a single red flower bloomed. Success!
sleeve drafting is really hard
I'm very tired of making sleeves.
I've done just fine drafting and making the bodice for the moulage and sloper for the moulage class. But I can't seem to draft the right sloper sleeve. I've made 5+ so far. I give up for now.

1. drafted according to measurements and instructions. waaay too big.
2. has weird flap at lower arm, too tight across upper arm
3. added fabric to cap so upper arm fine now, weird flap got bigger
4. rotated elbow dart + chunk out of middle = no more flap, but lower arm skin tight and upper arm too small
5. added fabric to cap and reshaped curve but upper arm still too small. curving in sides less = lower arm now has right amount of ease
I don't know what else to do... giving more space in the upper arm area would make the curve much too long to ease into the armhole (as it is, the ease is already > 1") and there's no way to reshape the curve so that you retain the circumference but increase the width and height. It would also make that weird extra flap of fabric in the lower arm come back.
According to the Fashion Incubator blog, you're supposed to be able to do this without any ease at all. :p
check mii out - worf
We got the "Check Mii Out" channel on our Wii, and I decided to enter the sci-fi convention superfan competition. I couldn't make a full-on Klingon, with all the hair and crazy eyebrows, but I managed a Lt. Worf. He got a level 8 out of 10, woo!

The top 50 ended up being mostly Spocks, with some Darth Vaders, a Geordi, and elves thrown in.
round bird
I saw the roundest bird ever today.

Also, update on noisy bird: we tracked it down to the top of a very tall tree and waited for a better view. When it flew to the top of a very tall post (the better to be heard?), it flashed the distinctive stripes of a mockingbird.
noisy spring
What's more annoying?
A. a car alarm going off
B. a bird energetically, repeatedly, singing a car alarm song
C. a bird energetically, repeatedly, singing a car alarm song at 2am
D. several birds energetically, repeatedly, singing car alarm songs at 7am

Science project proposal: blast 10 measures of a song, preferably a rondo, on repeat for a week and see what happens with the birds.
Update April 5: it's a mockingbird, sketch of bird markings changed.
