What does it mean when coworkers send you links to things like this?
I think it means I am lots of fun to work with. And that they're very good judges of character :)
clean new year
We spent our long weekend doing some major cleaning and reorganizing (spare bedroom, entry "hall", dining aka computer room). It feels like we've been doing this on and off for the past year, but I think we're pretty close this time.
While we were cleaning, I found this polaroid of the apartment from around the end of 2006 that makes us look like crazy hoarders. I'll post it when we're done for before and afters when we're done.
Useful links and things learned:
- UPS stores will take styrofoam peanuts and the big pieces from electronics packing
- Goodwill will take your old clothes, and the library will take your old books
- San Mateo's recycling site has info on unsubscribing from every form of junk mail known to man. It works!
- Put dvds + cover art into a binder
- Unclutterer is a somewhat militant but occasionally inspiring blog about living minimally
- Watching Clean Sweep is addictive
- So is reading about compulsive hoarders online (take the test!).
wedding project: save-the-date
Happy new year, my computer hard drive got replaced so I'm back! Here's another old wedding project, in lieu of fresh content or fun resolutions.
We sent out save-the-date magnets to friends, I think inserted into our Christmas cards 8 months before the wedding.
It was pretty easy. We had some magnetic sheets (kind of like this) that I got from a friend. I put the design together in illustrator/photoshop with the quail and scroll pattern I drew.
We printed out it out on an inkjet, maybe 8-10 per sheet of paper, glued it down to the magnetic sheet, tried to smooth out bubbles the best we could, and cut them all up into the right size after it dried. The end.
