built by wendy - done!

Figured I should post this before I forgot all the details.

I ended up with quite a few changes to this tunic:
- reduced volume in back by cutting in a center seam and taking out 3 inches
- made a belt because volume in back was still unflattering
- took off the ties that close the back neck (put in a snap instead)
- redrafted the sleeves from 3/4 puff to slim short ones (it took many tries with a muslin)
- piped the yoke so that it would show on the busy fabric

I'm not sure about how it looks, since I feel a bit poufy in it, and I really feel like I'm wearing a giant bib. Great for lobster dinners.

I've actually worn it out a few times already, but with a snug black cardigan on top to pull in the waist and jeans .. looks cute, but you can't see the yoke when I do that. I think it could also look nice unbelted, if worn with tights to balance out the volume (and shorts underneat where you can't see them).

media fun and updates

TV:
Heroes was not very good this season, was it? I didn't like any of the new characters, and the old ones were doing some pretty dumb things. Also, Tin Man looked so promising in the commercials, and so totally tanked when I tried watching it. "The O.Z."? Seriously?

Video games:
I played rock band this weekend at a friend's place. It's so much fun to play with other people, especially when there's an actual singer. No one really wants to play bass though. I hope it comes out for the wii.

Fashion/sewing:
The wendy tunic is done, but my hard drive is kaput, so no pictures until all that is figured out. I ended up making a belt for it too, because the blousiness was just really unflattering. Maybe I should stop doing that kind of thing and stick to more fitted items.

I heard back from Burdastyle about that Alice competition .. my entry was essentially disqualified because I wouldn't agree to letting go of all copyright (they want to foster creativity for designers and small companies, which is a good thing). Not sure how to say what I think yet.
