cjk dolls
An idea for a line of dolls.

It would focus on traditional Chinese, Japanese, and Korean garb. Maybe with a smattering of traditional-inspired modern clothing. They are just little stubby dolls, generally cone-shaped, with a divot at the waist. A big head and lots of blush adds extra cuteness.
The Chinese doll is in super-fancy clothes compared to the others .. but there's not really any modern application of Chinese traditional-wear (except for chipaos), unlike hanboks for Korea and kimono / yukata for Japan.
I like how all the different styles have little dangly accessories that you can hang off of the waist or in your hair. Very pretty.
I think I might've drawn the knot backwards on the Korean doll.
While doing a little research for this (i.e. Google), it seems like there's some kind of movement to bring traditional Chinese clothes, 汉服 - Han-fu, back into the spotlight. Interesting ..
not fall-like at all
A year ago, I remember thinking that my flat pattern class was quite fun, but I couldn't imagine anyone REALLY wanting to wear bishop or bell or leg-o-mutton sleeves anymore. WELL. Recently, I've felt like I've seen some pouf in the form of a bubble skirt, or a cute little puff-sleeved cropped jacket, or a blousy long-sleeved shirt tucked into tight pants at least once a day. (It'd probably be more if I didn't work in the middle of nerdville :D )
Anyhow, I was going to try drawing some pouf, but it just didn't want to turn out that way. And I was going to make it all autumnal with a bunny (of course!) and grays and reds, but it ended up more wintry instead. California winter, that is. Where you do not need jackets during the day.
green polkadots
I have green fabric with little white polka dots, and its inverse sitting in my room. I bought it more than a year ago in Japan.
Maybe I can make this out of it some day.
double happiness

Slowly posting random wedding projects.
This one was inspired by a book on traditional Chinese papercuts that I borrowed from the library. I put in the double happiness character for weddings, then added the quails that were on the invites and programs, along with other organic swirlies.
Originally, there were some swirlies connecting the top of the character to the little knob at top, but it ended up looking like a weird monster face, so I cut it out.
blythe's new outfit
I finally got around to making Blythe a casual outfit -- had lots of downtime while scanning in high res photos of the wedding, so did something that didn't need the computer.
Blythe is looking kind of shiny.
The pattern's from Dolly Coordinate Recipe book 1 with a few changes. (I have the 1st 3, but book 1 is still my favorite. It has the cutest / most practical outfits.) Their jeans require a lot of detail work (lots of top stitching), but look VERY CUTE when done.
