more dolls!
Is it wrong to want more dolls?
Annz dolls are the newest Japanese fashion doll. It's another modern Japanese girl with a cute face and pouty lips, but this one has amazing kimonos with fresh colors and geometric designs.

Also check out the great illustrations on the Annz website.
I also want to jump on the Blythe bandwagon. Everyone is making such cool stuff for her. Tweedly Do is quite cute (and available at Super 7 for ~$150), but I could get a Mlle. Rosebud for ~$80 at Amazon.
Bah.
desktop 2.0 beta
Interested in seeing work projects?
Desktop 2.0 beta launched last Monday. Check out the sidebar in particular, and think of me whenever you click a button. :D Also fun is the type-as-you-search "Quick Find" feature in the search box.
My favorite back-handed compliment, courtesy of the New York Times:
"The Sidebar is about as clean-looking as anyone could make it..."
You can see other people's sidebars at Flickr

Updates, but no pictures.
Manly jacket
Yes, I started working on it again a few weeks ago and actually finally began sewing. So far, I've sewn the side to the front and made the two outside pockets, complete with flaps. It took a while. 3 more pockets to go. Plus back. Plus lapels & collar & sleeves. Plus lining and interfacing. Maybe I'll finish in time for when it gets cold again. Cold being below 60 degrees out here.
Dress form
The best way to test whether I made the dummy correctly is to drape something and try it on. I've draped and sewn a fitted bodice, and I think it fits. I should really put in a zipper in the gaping back to be sure. After that, I'll drape a fitted skirt, and it'll be set to go!
Other than that, not much going on. I always feel like decompressing instead of doing something useful when I come home from work. That usually translates into looking a doll websites or lying on the couch watching TV. Boo.
Things I want to work on, or at least have done
- momoko
-- document the hoodie, paint little flower on it
-- create a graphic tee, maybe a denim skirt
-- re-straighten momoko-alpha's bird nest into a mass of shining pantene locks
-- figure out how to make sneakers
- sewing
-- finish manly jacket
-- re-drape and finish gray v-neck dress to fit me
-- make something summery before summer is over
- random
-- I thought up this cool project today that's really really elaborate and incorporates (almost) everything I'm interested in. It involves writing a program to generate different dress-concepts based on body and what-is-sexy-in-clothes parameters, printing out a humongous poster of the different concepts, picking a few to blow out fully into fashionable eveningwear for dolls, and making a little art exhibit out of it all. With at least 15 dolls, all in a row. If you're interested, I can elaborate on concepts, ideas, and sketches in another post.
