ruffly momoko v-neck
New pattern and instructions uploaded to Dress*Up site.

Next up is documenting the hoodie and creating graphic T's with graphics below:

pleat dress almost done
I'm back!
Got home Monday afternoon from Japan. Draping project was due on Wednesday evening.
I made the pattern, cut the fabric, and sewed (almost) the whole thing by 6am Wednesday morning. That was fun. Especially with jet lag.
Mosey on to flickr for more photos.
I ended up buying the gray fabric while in Japan. They have really nice simple geometric patterns there.
After I take the dress form class this summer, I'll re-do the side seams on this dress so I can wear it. I'll also re-attach the waist band -- the bias was a little less stretchy than expected, making the top pieces wrinkle.
pleats
This is what I'm working on as the final project for my draping class. The bodice will have pleats and seaming and the skirt has a big inverted pleat at the front. Right now, I only have 3/4 of the bodice draped, nothing else is done. I'm not sure if I'll finish in time...

I like the first two colors in the image — I'd be more likely to wear something that's more casual. But, I don't think I'll be able to find subdued fabric colors at JoAnns, darnit.
shiny new camera
I got a beauuutiful new digital SLR and took it out for a spin this weekend. Photos from Ikea, the farmers market, and a bbq are over at flickr.
Now I can't use the excuse of bad lighting anymore. Random question — why is there an ISO setting for digital cameras? Film speed obviously makes sense for normal film cameras, but you'd think that it's useless for a digital one.
