hoodie done!

Finally bought a separating zipper. As you can see, it is totally out of scale, oh well. It's done! So cute!

I'm thinking of painting a little white flower over the chest pocket location.

dress*up zine

I've finally put together the doll zine I first mentioned back in September 04. I've made it an online zine to compensate for how slowly I'll be posting new material. Each issue will center around a theme and contain patterns and photographs and maybe fun little projects. It won't really have any articles since I'm not a writer.

Anyway, here it is:

tulips and freesias

Tulips and freesias are out in full force now... but there hasn't been any sun when I've been around for nice pictures. So here is one from last week.

When we first moved into the apartment and dug up the little bed in front, we found all these funny little hairy bulbs. Hairy like coconuts and ranging in size from something the size of a clove of garlic up to something like a shallot. We stuck them back in the dirt at one end of the bed and in the spring, they came up as a big clump of freesias. They smell nicely fresh and sweet.

garden update s05

The daffodils (all 6 of them) are open .. next will be the tulips and freesias. And the monster california poppies that have erupted after the rains. I am thinking of killing them.

asian costumes

It's really hard to find good asian costume history resources in English -- most websites out there on costume history focus on European costumes (in excruciating detail). There is one exception though -- you can find stuff about kimonos all over the place.

For Chinese and Korean costumes, the 2 websites I've found so far are:
- Traditional Korean Clothing: a summary of court costumes
- Evolution of Chinese Costume: a thorough look at costumes spanning 5000 years

The Chinese website above actually "borrows" its information from this book: 5000 Years of Chinese Costumes by Zhou Xun and Gao Chunming. Found it last month at a local library. It's an extremely good reference. So I took a few pictures :)

map

My little unloved blog...

I have projects and things to upload, just need nice sunny weekends to take pictures. Always taking pictures at night makes things ugly.

Anyhow, here is the Animal Crossing map I made a long time ago. I was trying to get the perfect town, and SOMEWHERE there was the wrong amount of trees. So I went around and plotted every single tree, building, and bush. A little excessive, huh? At least I didn't make it into an Illustrator file like I was planning.

Click for the whole thing. To give you a sense of scale, this is made up of 6 sheets of graph paper taped together.
